We know that the Bible says that we should pray. We understand that prayer is important to God. But, how do we pray for others? How do we pray for ourselves?

When I pray for my friends, our staff and the people I am in relationship with, I pray what I call the 10 Finger Prayer.

  • Wisdom – Proverbs 4:7-8 – “Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore, get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding. Exalt her, and she will promote you; She will bring you honor when you embrace her.”
  • Knowledge – Proverbs 18:15 – “An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.”
  • Understanding – Proverbs 20:5 – “The purpose in a man’s heart is like deep water, but a man of understanding will draw it out.”
  • Favor – Psalm 90:17 – “Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands upon us; yes, establish the work of our hands!”
  • Health – 3 John 1:2 – “Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul.”
  • Right People (Alignment) – Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 – “Two are better than one because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken.”
  • Right Place (Assignment) –  Acts 2:1-2 – “When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. 2 And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting.”
  • Right Time – Romans 6:6-8 – “For while we were still weak, at the right timeChrist died for the ungodly. 7 For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— 8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
  • Right Things– Psalm 37:4 – “Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”
  • Prosperity – Joshua 1:8 – “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”

May this simple “10 Finger Prayer” bless you this season!
