Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day. It is a time when flowers, heart-shaped candies, and cards are used to express our love for others.

But what is love? Is it just a “secondhand emotion” as the song says? Or is it something bigger? And how can we make it last longer than just the one day of the year when we give each other cards and eat heart-shaped candy?

Love is only possible when Intimacy and Respect have been developed. Respect is the breeding ground for Love, but to develop Love, you have to be capable of intimacy.

Intimacy is the breeding ground for Respect.” –Leadershipology.com

Without the capability to be intimate or authentic with God first, yourself second, and then others, you are incapable of respecting and loving yourself, so Loving others only occurs at a surface level.

To develop Love, I want to encourage you to become a Great Lover!

“Great lovers are not people who love others the way they love, but learn what says “I love you” to others and then love them that way.”Leadershipology.com

One of the greatest human needs every person has is to be loved. If you will choose to love people the way they need you to love them, you will develop your own ability to love and you will develop a capacity to be greatly loved by others.

On this Valentine’s Day, in addition to honoring the person who is the love of your life, I encourage you to seek to “love” them the way Great Lovers do!
