Your life sentences sentence your life. Whatever you decide to say about yourself, will become the punishment or blessing that you sentence yourself to. The words you choose define your life. You can say whatever you want to say about yourself, but it isn’t until you begin to say what God says about you that the sentence of your life can change. A life sentence is anything that you consistently speak over yourself.
Here are some life sentences you may have heard/said and next to them are what God wants you to say:
• “I’ll never amount to anything.” – “I am who God says I am!”
• “I can’t win for losing” – “God made me to win!”
• “I’ll believe it when I see it.” – “All things are possible with God!”
Newton’s 2nd Law of Thermodynamics introduces the concept of entropy. Entropy is the loss of energy and order in any system caused by the lack of force being added to the system. In essence, a top eventually stops spinning and falls over, cars in neutral lose speed and come to a stop, and beautiful gardens eventually are overgrown by weeds and lose their beauty. The same principle can drive your life. If we don’t begin to intentionally choose to say the right things and believe the right things about ourselves, then we can reasonably expect that over time we will lose momentum, order, and prosperity and be left to accept stagnation, disarray, and poverty. We must choose to add the necessary energy to say the right things, believe the right things, and make our choices accordingly if we want to overcome entropy and use this process for our development so that we can be empowered with the greatness of God made manifest in us through our 1% difference that becomes our 1% power.
What is a life sentence that you’ve had that you feel has sentenced your life? What will you begin to speak over your life differently starting today?
