This weekend at Elevate Life Church we are in the second week of our SHOUT series, and I’m talking about problems. I wanted to share with you a blog on some of what I am talking about this weekend.
In life, all of us are faced with problems, we all can – and most likely have faced some things that seem large, powerful, and in many ways unconquerable. Like our own personal Mount Everest.
In 1924, after George Mallory’s third and fatal attempt to climb Mount Everest, his party came back and had a banquet held in their honor. It is said that the leader of the group stood to be applauded, and with tears streaming down his face turned and looked at a picture of Mount Everest behind him and said:
Mount Everest, you have defeated us once; you have defeated us twice; you defeated us three times. But Mount Everest, we shall someday defeat you, because you can’t get any bigger but we can.
In 1953, Sir Edmund Hillary, and Tenzing Norgay reached the top of Mount Everest, the tallest mountain in the world. Since then, over 3,100 people have made 5,100 recorded climbs. You see, in your life once you conquer something, you open up the door for everyone that comes behind you so what once was impossible becomes attainable.
You gain power not when you allow a moment to define you, but when you decide to define the moment. Remember, the obstacle might stay the same, but you can get bigger. Even more importantly, the way we see God determines how we see our problem. When we make God bigger; the God of the impossible, it doesn’t matter what the problem is because God is bigger.
Psalm 35:27
Let them shout for joy and be glad, who favor my righteous cause; And let them say continually, “Let the Lord be magnified, who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant.
God is always bigger than your problem.
