Did you know that God made you to win? The Bible says: “Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it.” – I Corinthians 9:24 (NKJV) Winning is the ability to overcome any obstacle that stands between you and your goal to produce the outcome that you want. It requires hard work!

Winning requires hard work … diligence.

To be diligent is to give constant, careful, steady attention to something. Diligence is the key to all worthy achievements, for it is the power to persistently and consistently focus our energies toward their attainment. Winners achieve their goals and there is only one way to achieve them… through diligent pursuit!

Webster’s 1828 Dictionary defines diligence as: “Steady application in business of any kind; constant effort to accomplish what is undertaken; exertion of body or mind without unnecessary delay or sloth; due attention; industry; assiduity.” It goes on to say, “Diligence is the philosophers stone that turns everything to gold.” Here is what the Bible says about hard work … diligence.

“Now this is the commandment, and these are the statutes and judgments which the LORD your God has commanded to teach you, that you may observe them in the land which you are crossing over to possess, that you may fear the LORD your God, to keep all His statutes and His commandments which I command you, you and your son and your grandson, all the days of your life, and that your days may be prolonged. Therefore hear, O Israel, and be careful to observe it, that it may be well with you, and that you may multiply greatly as the LORD God of your fathers has promised you— ‘a land flowing with milk and honey.’ “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one! You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.” – Deuteronomy 6:1-7 NKJV

“Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the LORD your God will set you high above all nations of the earth.” – Deuteronomy 28:1 NKJV

“You have commanded us To keep Your precepts diligently.” – Psalms 119:4 NKJV

“Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.” – Proverbs 4:23 NKJV

“I love those who love me, And those who seek me diligently will find me.” – Proverbs 8:17 NKJV

“He who has a slack hand becomes poor, But the hand of the diligent makes rich.” – Proverbs 10:4 NKJV

“The hand of the diligent will rule, But the lazy man will be put to forced labor.” – Proverbs 12:24 NKJV

“The plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty, But those of everyone who is hasty, surely to poverty.” – Proverbs 21:5 NKJV

“But as you abound in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in all diligence, and in your love for us – see that you abound in this grace also.” – II Corinthians 8:7 NKJV

“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be firm (steadfast), immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord [always being superior, excelling, doing more than enough in the service of the Lord], knowing and being continually aware that your labor in the Lord is not futile [it is never wasted or to no purpose].” – I Corinthians 15:58 AMP

“Our people have to learn to be diligent in their work so that all necessities are met (especially among the needy) and they don’t end up with nothing to show for their lives.” – Titus 3:14 MSG
