“But since you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in the love we have kindled in you—see that you also excel in this Grace of Giving.” – 2 Corinthians 8:7 (NIV)

Paul said in Second Corinthians, “I want you to excel in the grace of giving.” He could have said, “I want you to excel in school; to excel in sports; to excel in business.” Yes, these are all good … but he said, “… see that you also excel in this Grace of Giving.”

Giving is more than something you do, it is something you do because of who you are – a reflection of your heart. It is an antidote to scarcity. Every time you give, you overcome a poverty mentality that says, “I don’t have enough!” But most importantly, when we give, we are the most like God. We step away from needing a miracle and step into being miracle workers. It is more blessed to give than to receive, not just because Jesus said so, but because our lives become infallible proof of God opening the windows of heaven over our lives, so that His blessing can flow to others because of our giving.
