You Are Called by God!

We all have been CALLED BY GOD! Yes, YOU, have been called by God.

“Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God.” – Ephesians 4:1 NLT

 But you may be asking yourself, “To do what?”

“And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.” – Matthew 28:18-20 NKJV

What is the essence of our calling? First, we are called to know that God is the ultimate authority. He has called us to live a life of growing and going … as we GROW, we GO. It’s like the greatest thing a parent can do for a child – to live in such a way that it gives a child something to follow. Be a model. If you want to raise rebellious children, ask them to do something you are not doing. Second, we are called to do the Great Commission. We are called to be followers of God. We are called to learn who the authorities are in our life and follow them. And as we follow those in authority, we can learn to be great leaders.

In any situation, it is important we know who the leader is in the room and then to “roll in your role.” At the same time, you must understand that God does not just want you to be a follower your whole life. He also wants you to be a leader.

Becoming a leader begins with how you choose to follow. Why? Because how you follow determines how you lead. Following others can be difficult, as they all have flaws. These flaws can give you many reasons to not follow them. For example, you may do things differently than they do. You may have disagreements. You may be more qualified than them. You may even have a respect issue with them. But … we are all called by God and must strive to lead a life worthy of this calling.

Be the kind of person that GROWS … so you can GO and can make disciples!
