Willingness is the core competency of a great attitude. Anything that you are not willing to deal with like fear, insecurity, immaturity and lack of vision will hold you back from being the beneficiary of what could help you the most.

Here are some ‘Be Willings’ to consider:

  • Be willing to grow beyond what you know. You will never grow to your next level by thinking the same way you have always thought. In fact, if you keep doing what you have always done, you will keep getting what you have always gotten. The only way to grow beyond what you know, is to learn more about what you don’t know. One way to do this is to establish a learning agenda. A learning agenda is intentionalizing what you want to learn. It is a proactive approach to growing beyond yourself. It is reading books that relate to your desired area of growth for the purpose of growth, because you know that readers are leaders.
  • Be willing to practice where you want to go. Wherever it is you want to go, you have to grow there. Whether you want to grow in your relationships, business, finances, spirituality, emotional quotient, or in particular skills or competencies, you have to practice. The most important thing to practice is discipline . . . self-discipline, because the training of yourself, will affect every area of your life and give you the capacity to grow in whatever area you so choose.
  • Be willing to serve without making someone owe. Jesus had one definition of Greatness: “whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant. And whoever of you desires to be first, shall be slave of all.” (Mark 10:44-45) The only reason someone would not serve, is because they were not willing to because they are not getting paid enough. And yet, the benefit of serving is more than money, it is what Jesus called, “Great.”

Be willing!
