“Relationships are one of God’s greatest gifts and are life’s greatest assets. Who you relate with is who you will create with. Who you “get-to” do life with will determine the kind of life you get.” – Leadershipology.com
Relationships mold us and we shape others through them. We cannot help but be impacted by the lives of those closest to us. For this reason relationships, not riches, are the best indicators of a successful and satisfied life.
Regardless of personal brilliance, every leader has weaknesses and blind spots that can only be overcome by relationships. If we desire to be effective influencers, we cannot live in isolation. Rather, we must work together to sharpen our strengths and cover our weaknesses. In fact, those with whom you choose to align will determine your next level in life … whether up or down, better or worse, or forward or backward. Most importantly, your relationships determine whether you find fulfillment or disillusionment. These human connections give life joy and push us to greater heights than we could ever climb alone.
The best leaders have vast reserves of social capital and their relational currency both energizes and sustains them in the ever-challenging world of leadership.
Here are a couple of questions to ponder.
- Have you established strong relationships?
- Are they with people who complement your strengths/weaknesses?
- What are you doing to invest in and nurture those relationships?
I dive deeper into the importance of relationships in my book, Your Divine Fingerprint.
