Ultimately, Self-Leadership is not SELFISH leadership. It is not about being the best for your own benefit. Your self-leadership develops to the fullest when you serve others.
In one word, Servant Leadership is generosity. You are generous when you focus on what you have to give, not what you want to receive. As with most things, Servant-Leadership is a way of thinking. It is the desire to live with a transcendent cause. Most people live for today with little thought for the future so how can you live with a transcendent mindset? By choosing to focus on what you have to give others. When you choose to be generous with a heart to give and not receive: you are truly leading yourself to become not just a Self-Leader, but a Servant-Leader.
How can you grow your SELF and SERVANT leadership capacity?
You are generous when you focus on what you can do, not what you can’t do.
Never allow yourself to say: “that’s not my job.”
Put your hand over your heart and repeat this:
· I will never say: “I’m not paid to do that.”
· I can do all things through Christ who is my strength.
· If I’m in the room, no matter what the problem is, I’m a part of the solution, not a part of the problem.
Servant Leadership is your greatest capacity developer.
Another definition of leadership is: “Your capacity to personally grow and develop so that you are empowered to help others do the same.”
Do you find fulfillment in helping others grow? Whether you realize it or not, you are the key for another person’s greatness to be launched into the world. How can you be a part of the solution right now in an area of your life?
