What is the ONE THING that makes everything better? Intimacy … it is a prerequisite to happiness. Intimacy gives you a deeper understanding of yourself and allows you to share the vulnerability of who you are with another person. It is the ONE THING that makes EVERYTHING better!
How can we have greater intimacy with others? It all begins with having an intimate relationship with God. Here are three things to help you develop greater intimacy with God:
- Draw close to God, He gets you! God created you … He understands you better than you understand yourself. Draw close to Him.
- Give your heart to God, He cares about you! God has given you a purpose and a destiny. By giving your whole heart to Him, you can then give your heart to another person.
- Pour your Into-Me-See on Jesus, He will pour His Into-Me-See, Into-You. We have to be vulnerable with God, giving Him everything that we are … the good, bad, and the ugly.
Once we have an intimate relationship with God, we can have greater intimacy with others.
- Let your desire for Into-Me-See help you find your tribe. We have to find our people, our tribe. We have to find the people who will be with us for life, not our reasons or seasons, but those people who are our TRIBE.
Very few of us have people that we would consider to be best friends. Fewer still, if any, would have anything resembling the covenant relationship between Jonathan and David (1 Samuel 18:1-4). Jonathan and David both knew they were meant to be friends. They knew that God knit their hearts for a specific purpose and reason. In fact, the connection was so strong that Jonathan made a covenant with David, a commitment that was meant to last beyond either of their lifetimes. When the Bible talks about friendship, it refers to it in this covenant sense. In essence, when we find our friends we find our tribe. In fact, God refers to Abraham, Moses, and even the disciples as his friends … His tribe. They are his friends not because he likes them or is like them … they are his friends because He made a covenant with them.
To make everything better in life, we have to develop intimacy with God and find our tribe!
