Honor is the key principle that makes everything in life work like God intended.”-Leadershipology.com

Today is the third Monday in February, the day we observe President’s Day. It is a day to honor and celebrate the accomplishments of our Presidents, past, and present. We honor them for the honor THEY bestowed on our country and for their service as President of the United States of America.

Thomas Jefferson, the author of the Declaration of Independence and our third President, felt that honor was important enough to include on the Declaration of Independence. The final sentence of the Declaration of Independence ends with the word, honor.  He emphasized it as, “sacred honor”.

“…we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor.

Respect and Honor go hand in hand. Most people judge behavior not as right or wrong alone but in comparison to their own behavior. Whatever you don’t honor, you may dismiss and therefore cannot benefit from. This is what makes honor so important. Even though you may not agree with something, you can still honor it.

Develop honor, make your relationships more about giving honor where, when, how, and to whom you can rather than about what you can get.

Be honorable…Be the best YOU, you can be! Be an honorable person and watch how God will honor you.

On this Presidents Day, I want to encourage you to exercise a spirit of honor in word and deed. May God use US to help restore “sacred honor” in America again.
