“Serving kills the ‘It’s all about me’ self that needs to die.” – Leadershipology.com
Most people are more concerned about being approved by others than influencing others. Their need for approval becomes an obstacle for them being influential for God.
God wants us to be an influence in the world, to be salt and light.
“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lamp-stand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” – Matthew 5:13-16 NKJV
The best way to influence others is to live to serve others.
“Obviously, I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant.” – Galatians 1:10 NLT
“But he who is greatest among you shall be your servant.” – Matthew 23:11 NKJV
“Then He came to Capernaum. And when He was in the house He asked them, “What was it you disputed among yourselves on the road?” But they kept silent, for on the road they had disputed among themselves who would be the greatest. And He sat down, called the twelve, and said to them, “If anyone desires to be first, he shall be last of all and servant of all.” Then He took a little child and set him in the midst of them. And when He had taken him in His arms, He said to them, “Whoever receives one of these little children in My name receives Me; and whoever receives Me, receives not Me but Him who sent Me.” – Mark 9:33-37 NKJV
Don’t let your need for approval becomes an obstacle for you being influential for God. Serve others … it kills the ‘it’s all about me’ self that needs to die and elevates your influence with others.
Win by serving!
