God spoke of honoring three different types of people, our mother and father, the elderly and those individuals what are in authority over us. Honor, starts first with our mother and father. This is important to God, so important He made it one of the Ten Commandments. He was so explicit when He gave the commandment to Moses. He stated, “for all their life” not just while we were young or if they do everything right honor them, He said to Honor your father and mother for all their life.

If you do not live a life of honoring your parents, you will not have an attitude of honor; therefore, honoring authority in your life will be non-existent. You can’t have an attitude of feeling you have been wronged by your parents or those in authority over you and feel justified as to why you are not honoring them. We honor them, not for all that they have done, whether right or wrong, but because we are honorable people. That’s why we give honor.

We honor because God says to honor, we honor our parents for the rest of their life and not because they did everything right, because you’re seeking to live a biblical worldview of honor, giving honor.

Honor who and what God says to honor…make that your life goal!
