“No person was ever honored for what he received. Honor has been the reward for what he gave.” Leadershipology.com

Today marks the 75th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. That fateful morning will forever be remembered for the lives lost and how history for America and the world would change forever. We observe this day as a day of honor and respect for the lives lost and for the survivors that are still alive today. While the number of survivors is but a handful, their stories of bravery and loss are still as vivid as ever. We honor them for their sacrifice and the sacrifice of their families. The attack on the early morning of December 7th marked just the beginning of World War II and lives lost, eventually over 400,000 American lives would be lost over the next four years.

The men and women who endured the attack on Pearl Harbor were leaders. Amidst the chaos of the surprise attack, countless stories of bravery, leadership and sacrifice emerged from survivors.

Before leaders are ever chosen by others, Leaders have chosen to serve.  Leaders don’t find a need and fill it, they see the need and serve it.  They lead themselves to lead the need by doing what needs to be done.  Those who follow any leader see the leader serving and become inspired to do the same.

How and who you are following will determine how and who you will lead.

Who are you following and how are you following them?
