At various times, we all find ourselves in a pit. It could be because of rejection, a life threatening disease, financial loss, death of a loved one, or some other situation.  In those moments, know that God sees the end from the beginning, and He will use everything from beginning to the end, for your good! (Romans 8:28 NLT)

Let’s look at the story of the biblical character, Joseph.

Joseph was the favorite son of his father, Jacob.  His ten older brothers were jealous of him and his dreams, and sold him into slavery in Egypt when he was 17. He was faithful to his master, but wrongly accused and put in prison.  It was 13 years before he was brought before Pharaoh, and ultimately became the second in command.  Because he maintained an honoring attitude throughout those years, he earned the respect of others – even when in prison – and God was able to work through him.

God’s Word tells more about Joseph’s life story than any other patriarch because he was one of God’s sons who was most like Jesus, and the way he lived his life is a picture of how God wants us to live.  Jesus said of the people praising him, “If they keep quiet, the stones would cry out.”  (Luke 19:40  NIV)

Based on Joseph’s story, if the rocks of Dothan (Egypt) could talk, they’d say:

  • Every dream or destiny has a pit.

“Remember today, a dream that is worth pursuing will have many obstacles! Every obstacle becomes a stepping stone to your next level!”  –Leadershipology.com

“If you live with the END in view, it will give purpose to what you are going through in the present and give you power to learn from the experiences of your past.”  –Leadershipology.com

  • Every pit has a purpose.

“The purpose of any test is not just to prove your present knowledge based on past experience, but to approve your wisdom for future success.” –Leadershipology.com

“If you live with the END in view, it will give purpose to what you are going through in the present and give you power to learn from the experiences of your past.” –Leadershipology.com

  • Every purpose has a process

“Process is a principle of life that will either kill your potential or give life to your dreams.” –Leadershipology.com

“The middle is not the end, but a process you must grow through to get to your new beginning.” –Leadershipology.com

  • Every process has a promise.

“Persistence is to keep doing what you know to do, even when doing what you know to do, doesn’t seem to be getting any results … knowing that the greatest outcome of doing what you know to do is what YOU BECOME in the process, not what you get from Doing the Process.” –Leadershipology.com

When you find yourself in a pit, and we all have … remember that every pit has a purpose; every purpose has a process; and every process has a promise! And most importantly, know that God sees the end from the beginning, and He will use everything from beginning to the end, for your good!
