It has been said, “What you accomplish in life will be determined by your ability to focus.”
Focus is the ability to synergize the spirit, soul, and body toward a central point of concentration. Seeing a clear picture of where you are going and concentrating your focus on getting there is significantly more important than having talent. Clear focus eliminates distractions, unifies activity, and guides your decision making. It unites your ideas and actions and channels them toward your objectives. It makes forming good habits possible and good habits make success inevitable!
When you turn on a light switch, the incandescent bulbs diffuse light and illuminate a room. The bulb diffuses the light and it fills a room. A laser, on the other hand, emits a single, concentrated beam of light that can be used to cut through steel like a hot knife through butter. Both the incandescent bulb and laser emit light – so, what is the difference? Focus.
As a leader, you must select the vision worthy of your attention and fix your sights upon it. You will face distractions of all sorts but your ability to maintain focus will be a determinant factor of how much influence you wield and how much you accomplish.
Focus questions:
• What goals are you currently focused on reaching?
• Who in your life best understands your areas of focus?
• How do you protect your focus from distractions?
• When has your dedicated focus inspired someone else to take action?
