I don’t usually publish book reviews that people send me. But the other day, one of our staff members Matt Fellenbaum sent me a review of my book and it encouraged me.
My greatest prayer when I read a book, and when people read my book is that it will help them. Help them become all that God has called them to become. At the end of the day, I know how much God has blessed me with both a platform and a message to communicate something that I believe can change people’s lives because it has changed my life! When I read things like this, God uses it to encourage me to keep going, because a primary question I can often have is “is what I’m doing making a difference in people’s lives?” My greatest hope and desire with the message God has given me is that he uses it to help people like Matt who I have know for a long time, and people like you; who I may never meet. This message is truly born out of my own lifelong transformation and discovery of my 1%, and I pray that it will help others discover their 1% as well.
Matt’s Review:
I started this book Oct. 7th 2013 and finished reading it Feb. 2 2014, that’s almost 4 months.
Most books I read I like to highlight things that really stick-out to me; truths or opinions that I completely agree with or maybe just the author’s perception of something that shifts my paradigm. As a habit, when I finish a book that I’ve highlighted I like to review the parts I’ve highlighted. This way the parts of the book that really spoke to me stay with me longer.
While reading Your Divine Fingerprint I rediscovered multiple truths and paradigms that spoke to me a church. Light cast on blind spots and misconceptions about the way I look at and think about myself helped to redirect my thinking about each moment in my life and what exactly it is I want out of this life. Strategies like “Discover, Develop, and Deploy” have given me a simple foundation for the broader spectrum of thoughts I have about all of life’s questions, and help give me a vision for where I’ve been, where I am, and where I’m going.
Great questions like “ how do you measure success in rough times?” are answered with simple solutions, “So at times, let’s measure our growth in our attitude.” Chapter 4 spoke straight to my Doer with BE: Mission, encouraging me to believe God and to “take massive action and do everything we know to do.” As a low Mover this motivates me to go for it! And in chapter 5, I discovered how the things I value most show in every area of my life. For example, if I value excellence then it will show in how my businesses are run, how clean my home is, how organized my finances are, if my relationships are strong or barely have a pulse.
In 2013 I experienced a major loss that left me feeling totally rejected and hurt by a person that I considered very special. That loss has forced me out of my comfort zone in almost every area of my life which has lead me to transform my thinking in almost every area of my life. “No one can use what happens to you like you can” and “never let someone’s opinion become your reality. Never sacrifice who you are because someone else has a problem with it. Love who you are inside and out.” Great encouragement for making proactive CHOICES everyday to become better not bitter.
“Your Divine Fingerprint” is filled with great insight and wisdom, it’s shown me that God created me in a unique way with a unique purpose in order to live a unique story! In my 31 years of life I’ve learned that if you don’t have any problems now just wait someday you will. In other words it’s not a matter of “if” you will encounter problems it’s a matter of “when” you will encounter problems. But when I apply God’s wisdom in my life and understand that He created me with purpose then I know that I am not a problem, I AM THE SOLUTION!
