A pressing challenge of leadership is focusing on what matters most. When you know what matters most, you can deliver results that most matter.
As we approach the new year, ensure you focus on what matters most. What matters most?
People matter most.
On the one hand, you are the person that matters most. Self-development is paramount. Develop yourself as much as you develop others. The greatest gift you can give others is a healthy YOU!
On the other hand, others matter most. You make others matter when you:
- Celebrate effort and progress, even if outcomes fall short.
- Honor character qualities, not just performance.
- Recognize uniqueness. Talk about their gifts, talents, and skills … not just what they do.
- Challenge the status quo by raising the bar.
- Encourage the discouraged. Do not simply correct and direct but encourage, as well.
Develop people, not just skills.
