We know that the Bible says that we should pray. And we have an understanding that prayer is important to God, but, how do we pray for ourselves? How do we pray for others? When I pray for my friends, our staff and the people I am in relationship with I pray what I call the 10 Finger Prayer:
- Wisdom – James 1:5 – “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.”
- Knowledge – Proverbs 18:15 – “An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.”
- Understanding – Proverbs 20:5 – “The purpose in a man’s heart is like deep water, but a man of understanding will draw it out.”
- Favor – Psalm 90:17 “Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands upon us; yes, establish the work of our hands!”
- Health – 3 John 1:2 – “Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul.”
- Prosperity – Deuteronomy 8:18 – “You shall remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth, that he may confirm his covenant that he swore to your fathers, as it is this day.”
- Right People (Alignment) – Ecclesiasties 4:9-12 – “Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken.”
- Right Place (Assignment) – Acts 2:1-2 – “When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. 2 And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting.”
- Right Time – Romans 6:6-8 – “For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— 8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
- Right Thimgs- Psalm 37:4 – “Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”
