Excellence is a spiritual commodity because it is generated from the inside out. It is spiritual because it stems from an inner desire to “Be the best you, you can Be.” Excellence differs from perfectionism, as perfectionism is born out of a desire to look good.
Three ways to Elevate your Excellence:
1. Enrich yourself
Some people go through life without ever asking hard questions, taking risks, or exploring the world – but is that really living a life of excellence? Strive to make your life as fulfilling, meaningful, and joy filled as possible.
2. Encourage others
“The best way to cheer yourself up, is to cheer others up.” – Mark Twain
“No matter how busy you are, you must take time to make the other person important. Everyone has an invisible sign hanging from his neck saying, ‘Make me feel important!’ Never forget this message when working with people.” – Mary Kay Ash
3. Examine your Progress
“I know you won’t believe me, but the highest form of Human Excellence is to question oneself and others. The unexamined life is not worth living.” – Socrates
Ask yourself this, “What area of my life needs to be elevated?” Then apply these three actions to your daily routine in that area – excellence is sure to follow.
