This is the year to Excel! We Excel by SOARing beyond our ordinary into God’s Extravagant Extra-ordinary, and receiving the good things He has prepared for those who love Him! Here are three reasons why we need to Excel in the Spirit.

1)  The Holy Spirit teaches and reminds us of God things when we most need it.

“But the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will cause you to recall (will remind you of, bring to your remembrance) everything I have told you.”  – John 14:26 AMP

The Holy Spirit teaches us all things. The problem lies in that at times, we are all unteachable. We tend to think our way is the best way. We think our opinion really matters. He says, “I’m going to teach you all things, and I’m also going to cause you to recall what God’s word says so that you don’t become unteachable.” Take a moment right now, put your hands on your head, and say, “God, help me to be teachable. I give you permission, Holy Spirit.” The Holy Spirit will teach you.

2) The Holy Spirit empowers us.

“But you shall receive power (ability, efficiency, and might) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be My witnesses in Jerusalem and all Judea and Samaria and to the ends (the very bounds) of the earth.”  – Acts 1:8 AMP

It does not matter how strong or great you are, when you hit bottom, you hit bottom. Fortunately, there is one (but only one) thing that can empower you beyond your weak self – the Holy Spirit. Many people think they are strong. For example, many men think their marriages rank a “seven or eight” on a 10-point scale. Their wives, however, often rank their marriages lower – about a “three to four.” Men often think, “Things are pretty good,” until she says, “I can’t do this anymore.” We need the Holy Spirit to empower us in our delusion.

“But you shall receive power, ability, efficiency, and might. When the Spirit has come upon you, you shall be my witnesses.” – Acts 1:8

In other words, your life will be a testimony of God’s Word working in it. I think we all want God’s Word to work in our lives. However, it is important to remember, it is not just about you. It is also for everybody else around you. Your kids need to see God’s Word working in your life. They do not need your thinking or your philosophy … they need the Holy Spirit that is in you.

3) The Holy Spirit brings freedom.

“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (emancipation from bondage, freedom).  2 Corinthians 3:17 AMP

Wherever the Spirit of God is and whenever you allow the It to flow, God brings freedom. Freedom. Some of us don’t even know what the bondage is in our life. We don’t understand that we’ve got racial bondage, political bondage, all kinds of thinking bondage. We have all kinds of stuff shaping and clogging our filters. We can’t sing the old song, “I can see clearly now…” because our filter is so clogged.

“Without the anointing (power of the Holy Spirit) of God, there is no true deliverance (freedom) from or to anything.”  – Leadershipology.com

We need to Excel in the Holy Spirit!
