Effective leaders know their primary job isn’t to amass personal accomplishments, but to accomplish as much as possible through the greatness of others.
My definition of leadership: Leadership is the capacity of an individual to grow and advance personally that creates an ability to empower others to do the same. You “lead” the best out of other people when you “do” leadership … it is empowering to your team members.
How do leaders inspire their team members to such great heights? Here are three keys:
- Know the keys to their heart – What energizes them? What do they dream about?
- Know the greatness they possess – What are their gifts and talents? What do they do well that gets results?
- Know the opportunities before them – What next step fits their level of maturity? What can you do to help them grow into that next level of responsibility?
