Attitude is the sail we set that determines the course of our life.” – Leadershipology

Can you imagine a sailboat without a sail? It would be directionless. You can’t always determine the direction of the wind, but you can determine the set of your sail. No matter if the winds of life are blowing hard or soft, north or south, you can set your sail for success. Successful people use the winds of life to get to where they want to go. Never allow the wind to blow you away, but rather use the wind to blow you into your future.

The Bible says in John 3:8, “The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

The perspective of the Spirit here is that part in each one of us that is not seen. It is in our Spirit, not our mind, where our attitude dwells. Our attitude stems from our mind where our thought processes are developed. When we nurture wrong thoughts, we will develop wrong attitudes that lead to wrong actions. When we nurture positive thoughts, we will develop positive attitudes. Your thoughts do not have to be subservient to your circumstances. Circumstances and situations, especially the ones we cannot control, are like the wind that blows where it wishes. We hear what people say but cannot tell where what they say comes from. Have you ever asked someone, where are you going with this?

The bottom line is you cannot determine where the wind comes from or where it is going, what people say nor where it comes from or where it is going, but you can determine how that wind is going to affect the direction of your life. You do that, not by taking something from the outside in, but by dealing with what is outside your spirit with what is already inside your spirit. That is the power of the Spirit that you have to control where your spirit takes the wind, not where someone else’s wind, takes you!
