Life comes in words…words become sentences…sentences become messages. The messages we give and the messages we receive from others create our life experiences. The experiences we go through and hopefully, that we grow through, become our life lessons. Some people do not learn the lessons that are unique to them and it goes back to them not understanding the power of words.
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” – Proverbs 18:21
As I think about the Christmas story, there are words that can be used to define or tell it. I specifically chose 9 words (out of many) that tell the meaning of Christmas. These words, when added to a sentence, help us to really understand the message of Christmas. The first word is Angels … I’ll share the others over the next few days.
Angels … God uses the SUPERNATURAL to show His super in our natural.
There were angels before people even knew about Jesus and God used them to make supernatural announcements.
The Lord’s angel makes a visit to Zacharias, in Luke chapter 1. The angel tells him that his prayers would be answered and his barren wife, Elizabeth, would bear them a child. This child would be a boy and his name would be John. He would be the forerunner to the Messiah, the King of Kings, Lord of Lords. God took what seemed impossible to Zacharias and Elizabeth and made it possible.
Angels remind us that God’s ultimate goal is to bring His super into our natural. When God interjects His super into our natural the impossible becomes possible.
Further, into the Book of Luke, Gabriel visits Mary. Gabriel tells Mary that she is blessed and highly favored with the Lord. Mary, being a virgin and betrothed to Joseph, was told that she would be with child. The child would be the Messiah. Again, in scripture we see how God brings his super into our natural to make the impossible, possible.
God uses angels to give specific revelation so that the world would ultimately know who Jesus is!
