“Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God.” – Ephesians 4:1 NLT

When Paul wrote this, he was not talking to a group of ministers. Rather, he was talking to a group of believers. He was talking to the church at Ephesus, the largest New Testament church.

Although Paul was in prison, he wrote words of encouragement. He did not use “woe is me” language, as any of us might have chosen if we were in his situation.

In life, we all go through tough stuff. Sometimes we can feel like we are in a prison, behind a wall. It is in these times we can get so focused on what is not happening in our lives that we forget what God wants us to be able to do … and that is to help somebody else. This is why we need to Grow UP!

We are all called by God to do 3 things:

  • to Grow UP in all things;
  • to help other people Grow UP in all things; and
  • to cause Growth in the Kingdom of God.

God wants YOU to Grow UP … but it’s not easy! Everything is going to grow, but not everything grows better. Everything is going to grow, but not everything grows forward. Everything is going to grow, but not everything grows up.

You see, there is one little axis that determines everything and it is … YOU!

You are the one that makes things GROW better! You are the one that makes you grow up. You are the one that, as Paul said, must lead yourself to be worthy of your calling!

God has called YOU … walk worthy of your calling! Grow Up! Walk in such a way you create followable excellence and become a light in this dark world!
