Who could forget Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead? They had a following called the “dead heads.” When ask how the band came up with the name, Garcia admitted he opened a huge dictionary and found the name. The Grateful Dead were originally called “The Warlocks” but another group already had that name…they didn’t keep it either, and became known as “ZZ Top!”
Interesting trivia, but nothing to do with my blog today except, when I was considering the title, I thought “Grateful.” Then my mind thought, “Grateful Dead…” I then choose, “Grateful Live!” You never thought there was so much thought behind a title did you???
Today, we had our staff Christmas lunch/party. I am GRATEFUL. I am grateful to be alive and grateful to be doing life with “great-full”people.
In my book, Leadershipology 101 Quotes to Live By, I write this about Gratitude:
“Gratitude develops in us a spirit to Celebrate; encourages us to Communicate; and empowers us to Cooperate.”
People who are grateful, celebrate life and they celebrate others. Grateful people celebrate each new day. They celebrate the good that happens to and for others. They celebrate others victories, anniversaries, birthdays, promotions and most importantly, they celebrate people because they are grateful for people!
Grateful people express themselves! They communicate life and are Energy-Producers to everyone they come in contact with. They express out of a heart of gratitude and therefore, their communication is not strained or easily misunderstood. They communicate out of a grateful spirit!
Grateful people have a cooperative spirit. They are not divisive. They don’t speak negative even about the negative. They look for the positive and choose to see the best in others even when the worst has been displayed. It takes cooperation with others to accomplish anything GREAT!
Grateful Live People are characterized by a spirit of Celebration, Energy-Producing Communication and Positive Cooperation!
Don’t be a “Dead head!” Be a Grateful LIVE Spirit and bring your awesome self into every space with the intention of making that space better!
Gratefully Living,
Keith
