Always expect more out of yourself than you do out of others.
Expectation is a double-edged sword. If people do what you expect them to do, then you will have a tendency to be ungrateful…because they did what you expected them to do. If people do not do what you expect them to do, you will have a tendency to be disappointed…because they did not do what you expected them to do.
If you have a higher expectation on people than you have on yourself, your expectation is unrealistic and you will stay ungrateful or disappointed. But when you focus the expectation on yourself, to be and do for others as you would have them do unto you, you are living by the Golden Rule of Great Relationships.
