Today is the first Tuesday, after the first Monday. Why is that significant? Congress was intentional when they selected this day in the mid-1800’s as the day of voting.
Congress carefully selected this precise day for differing reasons but their intent was clear – they wanted to give every American an equal chance to vote. Whether they were farmers, businessman or clergy, they were thought about by Congress. Travel time to vote for a majority of citizens was over a day’s travel. If Election Day would have been on a Monday, citizens would have to leave on Sunday and miss church or the first of the month business would take precedent over voting. Congress did not want that. Rather, they wanted to give everyone, including Christians, a fair opportunity to make it the polls. So, the early Congressional delegates carefully selected this day in 1845.
It was reported that during the last election over 25 million Christians decided not to vote. If you want to change the direction of the country, you must do something about it. So, get out and VOTE!
Your personal feelings about the candidates should not be your first line of thought. This election is about more than the individuals running and their personalities … it is about the soul and conscience of America. Look and see which platform aligns with a Biblical Worldview.
It is our duty as Christians to pray for our leaders…it is our duty to give respect…it is our duty to honor the President, no matter who it is. As a Christian, the Bible tells us to honor, honor. The Bible also tells us to honor authority. View this election through a Biblical Worldview.
We live in the best country in the world. Let’s exercise our right to vote today. Pray for our nation…pray for our church. Make your voice heard. Vote. Why? Because your Vote Matters!
